Dr Louise Turnbull
Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine & General Paediatrics
Dr Louise Turnbull is a UK-trained Consultant Paediatrician with dual expertise in general paediatrics and paediatric respiratory medicine. She is passionate about delivering high-quality, family-centred care and offers private consultations for children with a wide range of medical and respiratory conditions.
Dr Turnbull graduated from The University of Manchester in 2005 and completed her paediatric training across the North West of England, gaining her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Paediatrics. She then pursued subspecialty training in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine, and since 2016 has been working as a Consultant at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, one of the UK’s largest specialist paediatric centres.
She specialises in all aspects of children’s lung and breathing health, including:
- Difficult-to-treat asthma
- Pre-school wheeze
- Chronic cough and noisy breathing (wheeze, croup, stridor)
- Recurrent chest infections and bronchiectasis
- Dysfunctional breathing (including exercise-induced symptoms)
- Tuberculosis (TB)
As the North West Paediatric TB Lead, Dr Turnbull runs regional services for children with TB and is an active contributor to national pathways and training. She also has a keen interest in medical education and child health
advocacy, having held key leadership roles including college tutor, regional lead for return to training, and now Clinical Director for Speciality Medicine at her NHS Trust and Area Officer for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).
In addition to respiratory care, Dr Turnbull is a fully qualified general paediatrician and is happy to see children with a wide range of general medical concerns, from feeding and growth issues to tummy pains, infections, and developmental concerns.
Dr Turnbull believes strongly in open communication and working in partnership with parents to ensure children receive the best possible care in a supportive, reassuring environment.
Outside of work, she is a mum to four children who keep her on her toes! She enjoys running, spending time outdoors, cooking for friends and family, and exploring new places.
